Challenge Guidelines

[ For 2013, we are excited to announce that special effects make-ups will also be eligible for entry, and follow the same guidelines as costume design entries! ]

~ Your costume must be shown in its inaugural debut. In other words, eligible costumes must be new, and may not have been worn to or photographed at any other costume conventions, events or parties.

~ You are permitted to design a costume and have someone else fabricate it; however, the concept and design must be 100% original.

~ You may opt to have someone else accompany you to model your costume at the Masquerade. The designer and creator of the winning costume will receive the award and is welcome to distribute the winnings as they see fit.

~ A designer may submit two or more costumes as one entry, so long as they clearly represent a consistent concept and theme.

~ In order to maintain accuracy and fairness, all entries must be photographed on the evening of the Event, in the same environment: the Golden Dome in the VIBIANA foyer. FORMAL PORTRAITS are currently available for booking here. You may also submit a second supplementary photo of your costume, taken anywhere in the Masquerade, to highlight other details or views.

~ Golden Dome portraits of eligible costumes are automatically entered into the Costumers' Challenge--no other form of registration is necessary.

~ Public voting will begin on June 30th and end on July 30th. Winners will be announced in early August.
